Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Devs Are Already Discussing New DLC

Following the successful launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft is already exploring ideas for additional content. According to Game Director Richard Knight, the development team has begun discussing potential DLC, although fans may want to temper their expectations regarding one highly requested expansion.

New DLC Ideas Are Being Considered

In a recent interview, Knight revealed that the team has been brainstorming ideas for future expansions. However, he stressed that no final decisions have been made yet.

For now, the studio’s priority remains supporting the base game with updates, improvements, and post-launch content. Only after that work is complete will the team decide which additional DLC projects make the most sense.

Freedom Cry Is Not the Current Focus

Many fans have been hoping for a remake of Freedom Cry, the standalone expansion released for the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. According to Knight, however, such a project would require much more work than many players might expect.

Because Freedom Cry takes place in a different part of the Caribbean and would require significant redevelopment, it would almost be comparable to creating a new game.

Knight did not completely rule out the possibility, but confirmed that there are currently no concrete plans for a Freedom Cry remake.

Strong Sales Open New Opportunities

The game’s impressive commercial success could give Ubisoft more flexibility when it comes to future content. The publisher recently announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has sold more than three million copies within its first week.

With such a strong launch, brand-new story expansions may now be just as likely as remakes of older DLC. Whether Ubisoft ultimately chooses one approach or the other remains to be seen.

One thing is clear: the publisher intends to support Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced well beyond launch.
