Players browsing the PlayStation Store have recently noticed something unusual. Several highly anticipated games, including Grand Theft Auto 6, EA Sports College Football 27, and EA Sports NFL 27, appear to have a $100 price tag at first glance. However, there is currently no indication that Sony has increased the price of standard editions. Instead, everything points to a display issue within the PlayStation Store.
Standard Editions Appear to Cost $100
The confusion comes from how certain games are presented in the store. On both the PlayStation 5 storefront and, in some cases, the web version of the PlayStation Store, upcoming titles are displayed with artwork and names that resemble the Standard Edition while showing a $100 price.
Looking more closely reveals that these listings actually link to Deluxe or Ultimate Editions, where the higher price is expected.
For some sports titles, the different editions are easier to identify thanks to exclusive artwork and promotional images. In the case of Grand Theft Auto 6, however, the visual differences between editions are far less obvious, making the listings much more misleading.
A Store Display Issue Seems Most Likely
Sony has not commented on the situation so far.
The PlayStation Store already supports multiple editions of the same game and normally labels them correctly. Because of that, the issue appears to be a display or data-mapping error rather than a limitation of the storefront itself.
At the moment, there is no evidence suggesting that Sony has raised the base price of these games to $100. Instead, Premium Edition pricing seems to be appearing alongside Standard Edition branding.
It also remains unclear whether the problem affects every region or only selected markets and specific titles.
Why Accurate Store Listings Matter
As digital game purchases continue to become more important, clear pricing and accurate product information are increasingly essential.
When players immediately see a $100 price attached to what appears to be a standard version of a game, it can easily create the impression that game prices have increased significantly. For highly anticipated releases like Grand Theft Auto 6, that naturally attracts attention and sparks discussion across the community.
For now, there is no reason to believe that standard editions will launch at this price. Everything currently points toward an incorrect presentation of Premium Editions inside the PlayStation Store.
Double Check Before Purchasing
Until Sony corrects the issue or provides an official explanation, players should carefully verify which edition they are purchasing before completing an order.
Checking the product page should confirm whether the listing is for the Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate Edition, helping to avoid any confusion caused by the current store display.
