Ever since Sony announced that new first-party PlayStation games will become digital-only starting in 2028, the decision has sparked widespread debate among players. Many fans have called on the company to reconsider its plans or at least provide more clarity about the future of physical releases.
Now, one of PlayStation’s regional divisions has responded to the controversy for the first time.
PlayStation Brazil Acknowledges Fan Feedback
A Brazilian PlayStation fan recently contacted PlayStation Brazil to ask whether Sony had taken the community’s concerns into account regarding the planned end of physical game releases.
In its reply, PlayStation Brazil thanked the fan for reaching out and confirmed that the feedback had been received. The company also stated that any future announcements or updates would be shared through PlayStation’s official communication channels.
However, Sony did not provide any new details or indicate that its strategy is changing.
No Change in Plans Yet
While the response does not reveal any new information, it is noteworthy because it marks one of the first public acknowledgements of the ongoing criticism surrounding Sony’s digital-only plans.
For many fans, the reply is at least a sign that PlayStation is aware of the discussion, even if there is currently no indication that the company intends to reverse its decision.
Debate Continues
Sony’s move toward an all-digital future has divided the gaming community. Critics argue that removing physical editions could reduce consumer choice, make game preservation more difficult, and discourage collectors who still prefer owning games on disc.
The discussion has become particularly significant in Brazil, where reports indicate that public officials have also begun examining the issue following the announcement.
For now, Sony has not announced any changes to its roadmap. Whether the company will address the growing criticism in more detail remains to be seen.
