'Star Wars: Zero Company' Surprises with Millions in Sales and a New PS5 Update

There’s double good news for Star Wars: Zero Company. Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that the turn-based tactics game has sold over one million copies. The publisher also announced a new update scheduled for next week. Patch 1.2 builds on the September bug-fixing work and arrives as developer Bit Reactor rehires staff after financial difficulties.

The new details come from an official announcement dated October 9, 2026. The combined news of verified sales success and ongoing support is notable, as just weeks ago it was unclear whether Bit Reactor could continue developing its debut title post-launch.

Electronic Arts Confirms One Million Copies Sold

Star Wars Zero Company has reached a major milestone just over six weeks after launch. In a brief social media post, Electronic Arts thanked the community and confirmed more than one million players or buyers.

The title launched on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For a turn-based strategy game with a challenging combat system, reaching this milestone is a notable achievement. The announcement is not entirely unexpected.

In September, analytics firm Alinea Analytics had projected more than one million sales, but EA and Bit Reactor had not yet released official figures.

We previously covered that estimate, the platform breakdown, and the studio’s finances in our article “Star Wars Zero Company Apparently Reaches One Million Sales.” The new announcement confirms the one-million milestone but still does not break down sales by PS5, Xbox, or PC.

Patch 1.2 Is Set to Be Released Next Week

Alongside the sales milestone, Electronic Arts announced Update 1.2, scheduled for release during the week of October 12–18, 2026. A specific date has not yet been announced.

The full patch notes are not yet available, so it’s unclear which bugs will be fixed or what gameplay tweaks are coming. The announcement itself is significant, however, as Bit Reactor’s rocky launch had raised questions about the game’s long-term support.

The announcement reassures the community that development on Zero Company continues. Exactly what fixes or improvements Patch 1.2 contains will become clear at release. No new missions, characters, or paid expansions were mentioned.

Update 1.1 already resolved serious issues

This will not be the first major update since launch.

Bit Reactor released Patch 1.1 on September 9. That update fixed numerous technical issues and several bugs in the tactical combat system, including a hit-calculation error that let attacks miss even when the game showed a 100 percent chance to hit.

In a strategy game where single actions can decide a mission, that bug was especially frustrating. Update 1.1 fixed it. The patch also improved stability, eliminated crashes, and tweaked the behavior of several abilities and enemies.

Save-file issues were also addressed. We detailed the full patch notes in our article “Star Wars Zero Company Update 1.1 Fixes Serious Hit Bug.” It is not yet clear what version 1.2 will improve.

Developers Return After a Difficult Few Weeks

The announcement carries extra weight given recent developments at Bit Reactor.

Shortly before the launch of Star Wars Zero Company, the studio had placed a significant portion of its staff on unpaid leave; reports indicated that up to 80 percent of the workforce was affected at times. The company cited unexpected business difficulties beyond its direct control. The first positive development arrived in early October.

Studio head Greg Foertsch confirmed that Bit Reactor had begun recalling and rehiring employees. According to the latest information, more than half of the original team is now back at work. We reported on this development in detail on October 8: Star Wars Zero Company Brings Back Furloughed Developers.

Confirmed sales figures and the new update are further positive signs, though they do not guarantee that all of the studio’s financial problems are solved. It remains unclear how many employees are still waiting to return or whether Bit Reactor can fully restore its original workforce.

Good Reviews and Positive Steam Ratings

Since launch, Star Wars Zero Company has drawn attention beyond sales. Critics have praised the tactics title, giving it an average score in the mid-80s on Metacritic. On Steam, the majority of user reviews are positive.

Reviewers highlight its tactical depth, task-force design, and seamless integration into the Star Wars universe. Set during the final years of the Clone Wars, the game lets players command a special forces unit under the former Republic officer Hawks.

Players recruit diverse characters, blend their abilities, and make tough choices throughout the campaign. The turn-based combat system emphasizes cover, positioning, and individual special abilities—a mix that many players find compelling.

What does this success mean for the future of Zero Company?

With the officially confirmed milestone of one million copies sold, Bit Reactor now has important proof of interest in its debut project. This could provide additional planning certainty for further development. However, one million sales alone do not allow for reliable conclusions about the studio’s financial situation.

Key factors include development costs, contracts with Electronic Arts, and actual revenue after deducting various expenses. There is also still no official information regarding potential expansions or a sequel. The return of additional developers generally improves the conditions for further work on the game. However, this does not yet allow for a concrete roadmap to be drawn up.

For PS5 players, the immediate focus is on the next update. Patch 1.2 is scheduled to launch as early as next week and will continue support for Star Wars Zero Company. We’ll know the full changes once Bit Reactor publishes the patch notes. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
