"Rayman Legends Retold" has been delayed, even though the game has already gone gold.

Ubisoft has delayed the launch of Rayman Legends Retold at the last minute. The remake will now arrive on December 3, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, instead of the previously planned October 1, 2026. The move is unusual because the development team reports the game has already gone gold, meaning it is ready for production and release. Ubisoft has not pointed to any technical issues or specific incident; the team only says it wants extra time to polish every detail. As a result, Rayman’s big comeback is now set for a two-month delay.

Ubisoft Takes More Time Despite Going Gold

Going gold usually means the retail build is complete, though post-launch updates or a Day One patch remain possible.

That is exactly what is happening now with *Rayman Legends Retold*. Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are sticking with the game as planned but are pushing the release date back from October 1 to December 3.

The teams have not detailed what work remains, so assumptions about major technical issues or sweeping changes are pure speculation. They continue to emphasize that the extra time is intended to polish individual details. As a result, PlayStation 5 players will no longer see Rayman Legends Retold in the crowded October release window; instead, it will arrive shortly before Christmas.

A new trailer and hands-on impressions are coming as early as September

However, the game won’t disappear until December. Ubisoft will release a new game overview trailer on September 22.

On the same day, selected media outlets and content creators will publish new hands-on impressions. Those reports should give players a clearer idea of how the re-release differs from the original. The delay may draw extra attention to the event, letting Ubisoft showcase the game’s current state and December expectations.

Rayman Legends Retold is much more than a simple remaster.

Rayman Legends Retold was officially announced in June during a State of Play. We had also previously reported on PlayStationInfo.de about the series’ surprising return.

Ubisoft is not calling the project a simple remaster. Instead, the 2013 original is being comprehensively reimagined with revamped 3D graphics, a reworked story, fully voiced cutscenes, and extra gameplay sections.

Standout additions are new 3D sections that pull Rayman and his friends away from the classic side-scroller view. Fans will also find familiar fast-paced platforming, music levels, and local co-op for up to four players. Kung Foot returns as well; Ubisoft already showcased the revamped mode and shared more gameplay at Gamescom.

Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition is also included

The bundle also includes Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition, pairing the reimagined Legends with a modernized version of its direct predecessor.

This bundle will appeal to newcomers and fans who want to play both games on modern hardware. Ubisoft originally planned to launch the package on October 1 and confirmed that date at Gamescom.

New Release Date Set for Early December

Ubisoft has now set a firm new release date of December 3. The publisher is not currently referring to an indefinite delay or a rough timeframe. Rayman Legends Retold is thus scheduled to launch on December 3, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

September 22 will now be particularly interesting. The announced Game Overview Trailer and new hands-on reports should provide the first detailed look at how far along the remake actually is and what changes Ubisoft still plans to make before release. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
