Halo Studios Originally Planned Three Games in Three Years

A new report has revealed ambitious plans that Halo Studios reportedly had for the future of the franchise. According to the report, the developer originally intended to release three Halo games within three years, but internal challenges and an overwhelming workload ultimately forced the studio to scale those plans back.

None of the information has been officially confirmed by Microsoft or Halo Studios.

Three Halo Projects Were Reportedly in Development

According to YouTuber Rebs Gaming, Halo Studios was working on multiple Halo projects simultaneously.

Alongside Halo: Campaign Evolved, the studio was reportedly planning a brand-new Halo campaign as well as a multiplayer project codenamed Project Ekur. The latter is said to have started as an extraction shooter before evolving into a Battle Royale title built in Unreal Engine 5.

Campaign Evolved Became the Priority

The report claims that Halo: Campaign Evolved encountered significant development challenges. As a result, studio head Pierre Hintze reportedly decided to shift the team’s focus entirely toward completing the remake.

Halo Campaign Evolved Goes Gold Ahead of Launch

Project Ekur was subsequently cancelled, while the planned new campaign reportedly failed to move beyond its early concept phase. According to the report, the studio struggled to establish a clear creative vision and was unable to secure a game director for the project.

Halo’s Future Remains Uncertain

Rebs Gaming also claims that Halo Studios currently has no campaign or multiplayer titles in active production beyond early concepts.

The report further suggests that there is no clear information regarding the rumored Halo remakes or the long-discussed Halo MMO project. It even speculates that layoffs could follow after the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved, although this has not been confirmed.

Nothing Has Been Officially Confirmed

Microsoft and Halo Studios have not commented on these claims, meaning the report should be treated as a rumor until official information is provided.

If accurate, however, it would suggest that Halo Studios currently has no fully active Halo projects beyond Halo: Campaign Evolved, leaving the long-term future of the franchise uncertain.
