Just days after launch, Halo Studios has released the first update for Halo: Campaign Evolved. Rather than introducing new content, the patch focuses on fixing technical issues, improving overall stability, and making several gameplay adjustments across all supported platforms.
The update is aimed at delivering a smoother experience while addressing some of the community’s most commonly reported problems.
Patch fixes crashes and improves performance
A major focus of the update is improving stability, particularly for PC players.
Among the most notable fixes are:
- Improved stability on AMD graphics cards when using FSR with driver versions 26.6.2 and 26.6.4
- Fixed a crash that could occur while watching or skipping the opening cinematic of The Maw
- Improved stability during the Pillar of Autumn mission
The game will also now detect certain problematic AMD and NVIDIA graphics drivers and notify affected players when the game launches.
Steam version receives additional improvements
Steam users are also benefiting from several platform-specific enhancements.
Xbox Gamertags are now displayed correctly when a Steam account is linked to an Xbox account. In addition, Halo Studios has optimized performance for players with very large friends lists, reducing stuttering in those situations.
Several gameplay tweaks included
Alongside the technical improvements, the update introduces a handful of gameplay adjustments designed to create a more balanced experience.
Key gameplay changes include:
- Jackals in the hangar corridor during Truth and Reconciliation now patrol the area instead of remaining stationary
- A fully charged Plasma Pistol shot no longer instantly kills players who have full health and fully charged shields
- The two Hunters encountered at the beginning of The Silent Cartographer now react more consistently and engage players more quickly
According to Halo Studios, these changes are intended to make combat encounters feel fairer and more consistent.
Players are still hoping for more features
While the first patch addresses a number of technical issues, the community is already looking ahead to future updates.
Among the most requested additions are:
- An option to disable chromatic aberration
- A toggle to turn off film grain
- Local split-screen co-op support on PC
So far, Halo Studios has not confirmed whether these features will be added in future patches.
More updates are expected
The release of the first post-launch update shows that Halo Studios is responding quickly to community feedback and working to improve the overall experience.
At the same time, many players believe there is still room for additional polish, particularly when it comes to graphics options and quality-of-life features.
With feedback continuing to pour in, further updates are widely expected in the coming weeks.
