Remedy Entertainment has shared a new update on Control Resonant, confirming that the highly anticipated sequel is still on track for a 2026 release. After months of limited news, the studio has now revealed fresh information about the game’s development progress and its new approach to New Game Plus.
Remedy says development is progressing well
According to Remedy’s latest Q1 2026 financial report, Control Resonant has officially entered the alpha stage of development. CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the project as one of the studio’s top internal priorities.
The game is being co-produced with Annapurna Pictures and is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.
Dylan Faden takes the spotlight
Unlike the original Control, the sequel will focus on Dylan Faden, the brother of Jesse Faden. Remedy also confirmed that the game will feature a larger and more open version of Manhattan, suggesting a broader world structure than the first title.
The studio appears to be leaning more heavily into action RPG mechanics while still maintaining the supernatural atmosphere that defined the original game.
New Game Plus encourages replayability
Remedy also revealed the first details about the sequel’s New Game Plus mode. Control Resonant is being designed around multiple playthroughs, allowing players to carry over Dylan’s abilities, talents, and artifacts into future runs.
However, traversal abilities tied directly to story progression will reset between playthroughs. The mode will also give players opportunities to discover missed items and explore alternative outcomes.
Other Remedy projects continue progressing

Meanwhile, the multiplayer spin-off FBC: Firebreak recently received its latest major content update.
Major marketing campaign planned
Remedy also confirmed that a larger global marketing campaign for Control Resonant will begin closer to launch. Internally, the company reportedly views the sequel as a major release for the studio.
Original Control continues to perform strongly
The original Control remains successful years after release. Remedy confirmed that the game has now sold more than 6 million copies worldwide since launching in 2019.
