Bloober Team has revealed that it plans to keep working on more than one project at a time. According to CEO Piotr Babieno, relying on a single game is simply too risky in today’s market.
The studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake believes that developing multiple horror games simultaneously is the best way to remain financially stable while still maintaining creative quality.
Bloober Team Wants to Reduce Risk
Piotr Babieno explained that Bloober Team does not want to depend on just one title.
According to the CEO, the studio wants to have at least two core productions in development at all times. At the same time, the company does not want to take on too many projects because quality, focus and creative oversight could suffer.
Babieno described two major productions as the right balance between ambition and responsibility.
Seven Horror Projects Are Currently in Development
Bloober Team also confirmed that it currently has seven active horror games in development.
Two of those titles are being developed internally by Bloober Team. The remaining five are being created through the company’s co-development label Broken Mirror Games.
While not all of these projects have been officially revealed yet, a few are already known.
Silent Hill and Layers of Fear Are Part of the Lineup
Bloober Team is already working on a remake of the original Silent Hill in partnership with Konami. The project follows the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake.
The studio also announced Layers of Fear 3 earlier this year. In addition, the trademark for a new project called Onyx: The Dark Grip recently appeared online.
Last year, Bloober Team released Cronos: The New Dawn, a completely new horror IP. While the studio currently has no plans for DLC or a sequel, Babieno said that the possibility is not completely off the table.
Quality Still Comes First
Despite having so many projects in development, Bloober Team says it does not want to flood the market with constant releases.
Instead, the studio wants to create horror games that feel meaningful, memorable and capable of staying with players for years.
At a time when many studios are struggling with layoffs and closures, Bloober Team believes that having multiple projects in development could be the key to staying financially secure in the future.
