Two highly anticipated Star Wars games may have leaked release windows. According to the leaker FivesWalker, Star Wars Jedi 3 could launch in 2027, while the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic could arrive late 2027 or early 2028.
The information comes from Star Wars leaker FivesWalker, who has recently drawn attention with several reports regarding upcoming projects in the franchise. Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment, and Saber Interactive have not yet confirmed the mentioned dates. Accordingly, this information should still be treated as a rumor.
Star Wars Jedi 3 Could Launch in 2027
According to the leaker, the third installment in the Jedi series is set to launch in 2027, though no month is specified. He also claims marketing for the unannounced title will begin earlier than expected, even suggesting a reveal before The Game Awards on December 10, 2026. This is not a confirmed announcement. A 2027 launch is plausible: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched in November 2019, and Jedi: Survivor followed in April 2023, leaving just under three and a half years between entries. Another development cycle leading up to 2027 would at least fit the series’ pattern so far. However, the fact that Respawn Entertainment is working on another Jedi game is not a rumor. Electronic Arts confirmed in 2024 that Respawn is developing the final chapter of Cal Kestis’ story. The upcoming title is set to conclude the Jedi trilogy.
The actual title of the third installment is not yet known. “Star Wars Jedi 3” therefore serves merely as a common name for the project at this time.
KOTOR Remake Is Also Reportedly Getting Closer
For many Star Wars fans, the second part of the rumor is even more intriguing: the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is reportedly still in active development and could launch in late 2027 or early 2028.
However, caution is warranted regarding the KOTOR remake. The role-playing game was first announced in 2021 during a PlayStation Showcase for PlayStation 5 and PC. Since then, development has been anything but smooth. Aspyr originally developed the project, but Saber Interactive later took on a central role in its continued development. For years after that, no new images, gameplay footage, or release details surfaced. In March 2026, Saber Interactive did confirm that KOTOR is still in development, but the studio declined to share specifics. We reported on that update: Star Wars KOTOR Remake Still in Development
The 2028 window had surfaced before.
The new rumor doesn’t come entirely out of the blue. In July 2026, Steve Allison, Chief Business Officer at Saber Interactive, discussed the company’s future plans and mentioned a 2028 product lineup that included the KOTOR remake, though he added, “hopefully.”
A Saber spokesperson later confirmed that the statement came from Allison but clarified that his remarks should not be interpreted as an official release-date announcement.
This creates an interesting overlap: FivesWalker points to late 2027 or early 2028, while a Saber manager had already tied the game to 2028.
PlayStationInfo had already picked up on the possible timeframe back in July: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake Could Be Released in 2028. However, this does not confirm a release in late 2027. The more reliable indication so far suggests that Saber is at least planning—or had planned at that time—a possible release in 2028.
Two major Star Wars games could follow one another in quick succession
If current reports prove accurate, two particularly well-known Star Wars game series could return within a relatively short period of time.
Star Wars Jedi 3 will continue and conclude the story of Cal Kestis, wrapping up his growth and the fight against the Empire after Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor.
The KOTOR remake, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. The original Knights of the Old Republic by BioWare is set roughly 4,000 years before the classic film saga and is one of the most famous role-playing games in the Star Wars universe. The remake is intended to modernize the story for a new generation, both technically and in terms of gameplay. However, official gameplay details are still lacking.
This uncertainty makes the remake the bigger question mark of the two projects. Respawn has at least confirmed it is developing the series finale of Star Wars Jedi 3. For the KOTOR remake, the only official update is that development continues. No final release date has been announced for either game.
The coming months could bring some clarity, at least regarding the Jedi project. If the claim about an imminent marketing campaign is true, an initial official presentation could come as early as 2026. Until Electronic Arts or Respawn announce specific plans, though, this remains mere speculation. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
