Ubisoft showcased the physical Launch Edition on the official Rayman Legends Retold social channels, highlighting the disc copy of the game, an art book, extra collectibles, and other bonuses.

That omission has sparked recent debate about GTA 6. Rockstar’s Goodtime State Vice City Collection costs about $400 and bundles many fan items from the GTA 6 universe, but buyers must purchase Grand Theft Auto VI separately.

$400 GTA 6 Box Does Not Include the Game
Rockstar officially unveiled the Goodtime State Vice City Collection just days ago. The package includes a Macca the Gator figurine, sunglasses, a New Era cap, a shoulder bag, a mirror, pins, and other collectibles. GTA 6 itself is missing.
That omission sparked immediate debate, as many fans expected at least a copy of the game in a package priced at nearly $400. Rockstar positions the collection not as a traditional collector’s edition but as a standalone box set.
That clarification has done little to quiet criticism of the price. The situation grew even more curious when, shortly after the reveal, resellers began offering the box at substantial markups. Secondary-market listings hit as high as $1,500, even though buyers could still preorder directly from Rockstar.

Rayman Legends Retold opts for a classic physical edition
The contrast with Rayman is striking. Rockstar has severed GTA 6 merchandise and collectibles from the actual game, while Ubisoft is taking a more traditional approach with Rayman Legends Retold: buy the game, get the disc, and receive additional extras.
At a time when physical releases are increasingly debated, this edition may appeal to collectors. After a last-minute delay, Rayman Legends Retold is now scheduled for release on December 3, 2026.
The remake of the 2013 platformer has undergone extensive technical revisions. Ubisoft promises a new 3D presentation, extra content, fully voiced cutscenes, and an expanded soundtrack.

The dig works mainly because of the timing
For Ubisoft, the timing offers an easy chance for humorous marketing. The GTA 6 Collection is already one of the industry’s most discussed collector’s items, so launching a dedicated physical edition at this moment—complete with the game—automatically draws attention. Using Rayman for this move also aligns with the brand’s laid-back image.
Without an official statement, it’s unclear whether Ubisoft intended the comparison as a direct dig at Rockstar.
Nevertheless, many players read it that way. Rockstar’s collection is unlikely to be affected. GTA 6 remains one of the year’s biggest launches, and limited-edition merchandise will probably keep selling.
More interesting is how publishers now handle physical special editions.
