"Lollipop Chainsaw 2" is official, and Juliet is returning to the PS5 in 2027.

After more than a decade, Lollipop Chainsaw is finally getting a brand-new sequel. Dragami Games and Nada Holdings have officially announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back for PlayStation 5. The game is set to launch in 2027 and brings back Juliet Starling as a chainsaw-wielding zombie hunter.

This is not a remaster or re-release. Back2Back introduces a new story and a revamped gameplay system. The development team includes former Lollipop Chainsaw creatives as well as Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. The game will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Juliet returns to a completely transformed city

Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back returns Juliet to San Romero, now reimagined as “Jaredwood,” a sprawling film-industry hub. There, she gets caught in an unusual zombie movie production.

A mysterious director pulls her into his production, forcing her to face fresh hordes of the undead while she and her allies investigate the chaos.

A new threat arises from so-called “Corrupted Realm Zombies,” though details on how their combat differs from the original game’s zombies remain scarce.

This is truly Lollipop Chainsaw 2.

For fans, the game’s classification is particularly important. In 2024, a modernized version of the original game—Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP—was released. At its core, however, it was still the familiar adventure of Juliet. Back2Back takes a much bigger step. Dragami explicitly describes the project as a completely new installment in the series.

We reported last year that Lollipop Chainsaw would return with new games and projects, but details were scarce. Now we know one of those titles is a full-fledged PS5 sequel.

Hajime Tabata is working on the new game

There’s also a surprise regarding the development team. JP Universe is handling development. The company was founded by Hajime Tabata, best known as the director of Final Fantasy XV. Tabata is thus working on a project that stylistically could hardly be further removed from Final Fantasy XV. However, he’s receiving support from people who were already involved in the original Lollipop Chainsaw.

Masahiro Yuki, who wrote the original scenario and served as co-producer, and NekoshowguN, the original character designer, are both on board, so the new title should stay faithful to the first game despite the studio change.

First gameplay footage is already available

The reveal goes beyond a logo and artwork. Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back is playable on the show floor at Tokyo Game Show 2026, and gameplay footage from the demo has already hit the web.

The footage highlights fast-paced melee combat, zombies, and Juliet’s chainsaw. The series’ bright colors, over-the-top action, and dark humor remain intact. Further details on combat changes will emerge in the coming months.

RePOP Gets a Discount to Celebrate the Announcement

To coincide with the sequel’s unveiling, Dragami Games is offering a discount on Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Depending on the platform, the re-release will be priced up to 45 percent off. The promotion begins September 17 on Xbox and Steam. PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and more… Source: Link
