In just a few weeks, Star Wars fans will once again be racing through a galaxy far, far away at breakneck speeds. A new Star Wars: Galactic Racer deep dive provides a closer look at the game’s three different vehicle classes. Speed Bikes, Skim Speeders, and Podracers don’t just look different—they each feature their own driving mechanics and tactical advantages.
Ever since Star Wars: Galactic Racer was announced, one question has been particularly interesting: just how differently will all of these repulsor vehicles actually handle?
Fuse Games has now provided a much clearer answer.

A new deep dive shown as part of the Future Games Show at Gamescom focuses on the game’s vehicles and the mechanics that separate them.
Three classes take center stage.
Speed Bikes turn braking energy into an extra boost
First up is the relatively compact Speed Bike.
Its main strength is maneuverability, but there’s a particularly interesting mechanic that makes the vehicle stand out.
Heavy braking allows the Speed Bike to store kinetic energy.
That energy can then be released to provide an additional burst of speed.
This means players won’t necessarily want to take every corner while braking as little as possible. With the right timing, a hard braking maneuver can actually become part of the strategy, allowing the stored energy to be used on a straight or when accelerating out of a corner.
Skim Speeders are built for fast and precise cornering
The second vehicle class shown in the deep dive is the Skim Speeder.
These repulsor vehicles hover close to the ground and are designed around high maneuverability.
The Skim Speeder can quickly navigate tight corners while still offering enough speed to remain competitive against other vehicle types.
That could make it particularly appealing to players who prefer tackling technical tracks with precision.
On circuits featuring plenty of tight corners, the Skim Speeder may have a noticeable advantage.
Of course, Podracers are here too
And then there’s the vehicle many Star Wars fans have probably been waiting for:
Podracers.
Ever since Star Wars: Episode I, the incredibly fast machines have been among the most iconic racing vehicles in the entire franchise.
Unsurprisingly, Galactic Racer uses them to deliver maximum speed.
The new deep dive makes it clear that all three vehicle classes are deliberately designed to feel different.
Players therefore won’t simply be choosing whichever vehicle has the highest top speed. Instead, they can select a class that better matches their personal driving style and the requirements of a particular track.
Vehicles can be customized and upgraded
The differences between the three classes don’t end with their basic characteristics.
Players will be able to upgrade their vehicles throughout a campaign and install different components.
These parts can alter the stats and abilities of each repulsorcraft.
New components can be earned during so-called Runs or purchased in the workshop.
This allows Galactic Racer to combine traditional racing mechanics with a roguelite-style progression system.
A failed run doesn’t necessarily mean losing everything, either. Certain unlocks and advantages will carry over into future attempts.
A racing campaign with a roguelite structure
The campaign follows a racer named Shade.
Following the fall of the Empire, the Galactic League emerges in the Outer Rim—an illegal racing competition where criminal syndicates support their own pilots and enormous sums are wagered on races.
Shade enters the league to make a name for himself while also settling a personal score with champion Kestar Bool.
During each run, players can decide which events they want to enter.
Fail too many times, however, and Shade is eliminated from the tour, forcing players to begin another attempt.
The next run can then feature different races, vehicle upgrades, and decisions.
Sebulba also makes an appearance
Fans of the movies can also look forward to one of the most recognizable names in the history of Podracing.
Sebulba is part of Galactic Racer.
The Dug was one of Anakin Skywalker’s most dangerous rivals during the famous Boonta Eve Classic on Tatooine in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
This time, Sebulba can even become one of Shade’s supporters—provided players manage to earn his respect.
Several recognizable locations from across the Star Wars galaxy are also being transformed into racing environments.
One example is the Graveyard of Giants on Jakku, where racers will speed between the enormous remains of crashed Imperial warships.
Single-player and multiplayer modes are included
Star Wars: Galactic Racer won’t be limited to its main campaign.
Confirmed modes include Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade.
Competitive multiplayer races will also allow players to directly compete against each other.
Fuse Games is therefore aiming to offer both a more substantial single-player experience and traditional quick racing action.
At the center of everything are the different repulsor vehicles and the unique gameplay characteristics each one brings to the track.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches in October
Fans don’t have much longer to wait.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions are already available for pre-order.
