Capcom may be preparing to support future Resident Evil games with far more post-launch content than ever before. According to a new insider report, both Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Veronica could receive substantial story expansions that add several hours of gameplay.
If the information proves accurate, it could represent the first step in a long-term strategy for the survival horror franchise.
Major story expansions reportedly in development
The report comes from well-known Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, who recently shared new details about the series on X.
According to the insider, Capcom is developing large-scale narrative DLC for both Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Veronica, with each expansion reportedly offering multiple hours of additional story content.
Resident Evil Veronica is currently expected to launch in 2027, although Capcom has not officially confirmed the reported DLC plans.
Capcom may be extending post-launch support
In recent years, Capcom has relied on a successful combination of brand-new mainline entries and high-profile remakes to keep the Resident Evil franchise active.
If Dusk Golem’s information is correct, the publisher now intends to expand that strategy by delivering significant story content after release rather than limiting support to free updates or smaller additions.
These expansions could explore new characters, continue unfinished storylines, or provide additional narrative chapters that extend the main campaign. At the moment, however, no specific details about the content have been revealed.
Still an unconfirmed rumor
As with any insider report, the information should be treated with caution until Capcom makes an official announcement.
While Dusk Golem has accurately reported Resident Evil details on several occasions in the past, there is currently no confirmation that these DLC expansions are actually in development.
If the report turns out to be accurate, major story expansions could become a regular part of future Resident Evil releases, giving fans more content to enjoy while waiting for the next main entry in the series.
