Speculation surrounding GTA 6 continues to dominate the gaming industry, but new insider reports are now lowering expectations regarding both pre-orders and early review access.
Following the discovery of a Best Buy affiliate email suggesting that GTA 6 pre-orders could begin on May 18, many fans were already preparing for a major Rockstar Games announcement. However, multiple insiders now claim that nothing significant is expected to happen until much later this summer.
Insiders Do Not Expect GTA 6 Pre Orders Anytime Soon
During the latest Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, Insider Gaming reporter Tom Henderson stated that he still believes Rockstar Games will not reveal anything major until July or August.
New GTA 6 Editions Leak Sparks Discussion About Bundles and Pricing
According to Henderson, the Best Buy affiliate email itself appears to have been legitimate, but that does not necessarily mean pre-orders are actually launching immediately.
Several explanations are currently being discussed, including:
- an outdated internal marketing plan
- a scheduling mistake
- or a campaign that may have been delayed
So far, neither Rockstar Games, Take Two Interactive, nor Best Buy has officially commented on the reports.
Rockstar May Be Planning Strict Review Restrictions
Another major rumor currently circulating involves Rockstar’s alleged plans for reviews and preview coverage.
According to a Brazilian journalist who previously worked with major outlets such as Omelete and UOL, Rockstar Games may avoid sending traditional review copies of GTA 6 to journalists and content creators entirely.
Instead, the company is reportedly preparing special review events where selected media members would travel to secure locations in order to play the game under controlled conditions.
The goal would allegedly be to prevent leaks and unauthorized footage from appearing online before launch.
A Very Different Strategy Compared to Red Dead Redemption 2
If true, this approach would represent a significant shift for Rockstar Games.
For Red Dead Redemption 2, the company still distributed standard review codes to press outlets and creators ahead of release.
However, given the unprecedented level of attention surrounding GTA 6, many fans believe Rockstar could now be taking far stricter precautions than ever before.
YouTuber Nukov also discussed the possibility during the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, although his comments sounded more speculative rather than based on confirmed information.
Rockstar Games Remains Completely Silent
As with most GTA 6 rumors, none of the current claims have been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games.
Still, the situation once again demonstrates just how massive the anticipation for GTA 6 has become. Even potential marketing emails and insider speculation are now generating worldwide headlines across gaming communities and social media.
Until Rockstar officially shares new information, all current reports should still be treated cautiously.
