Speculation surrounding PlayStation and a possible new State of Play event is continuing to build, and this time the focus is not on Kratos himself. Instead, attention has shifted toward his late wife Faye following a cryptic post from well-known PlayStation leaker @elesnicho on X that simply read: “Faye of War.”
The short message quickly sparked discussion across the gaming community. One major reason is the leaker’s track record. @elesnicho previously shared accurate information ahead of past PlayStation showcases, giving the latest post additional credibility among fans.
New God of War Project Has Been Rumored for Months
Rumors about a new God of War project from Santa Monica Studio have been circulating for quite some time. According to multiple insiders, the next entry could reportedly feature Faye as the lead protagonist.
Insider NateTheHate was among the first to publicly mention the project, claiming that the game would focus more heavily on action compared to the recent Norse-era titles. The rumored spin-off is also said to feel notably different from previous God of War games.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier previously commented on the reports as well, stating that the project could feel almost like a completely new IP despite remaining within the God of War universe.
At the time of writing, however, Sony has not officially confirmed the existence of the game.
State of Play Rumors Add More Fuel to the Speculation
The timing of the latest rumors is particularly interesting. Insider Detective Seeds recently claimed that Sony may be planning a new State of Play presentation for May 15. So far, PlayStation has not officially announced the event.
As a result, many fans now believe the rumored Faye project could finally be revealed during the showcase. Discussions on Reddit have even suggested that it may appear as a “one more thing” style surprise announcement at the end of the presentation.
The speculation is also gaining momentum because God of War director Cory Barlog has reportedly been working on a new project since the completion of the 2018 reboot. If accurate, the game could already have been in development for nearly seven years.
Nothing Has Been Officially Confirmed Yet
Despite the growing number of rumors and insider claims, all current information should still be treated with caution. Neither Sony nor Santa Monica Studio has officially announced a new God of War title.
Additionally, @elesnicho’s post itself included no direct details beyond the phrase “Faye of War.” Still, the combination of trusted insiders, ongoing rumors, and the possibility of a State of Play announcement has created significant buzz across the PlayStation community.
If Sony does announce a new showcase in the coming days, fans may not have to wait much longer to find out whether the rumors surrounding Faye are real.
