Remedy Entertainment has revealed additional gameplay footage for Control Resonant, the studio’s upcoming narrative-driven third-person action game set in the Control universe. The title is scheduled to release later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Members of the gaming press recently had the opportunity to see an extended preview of the game, expanding on the footage previously shown during last month’s State of Play presentation.
Dylan Faden Steps Into the Spotlight
In Control Resonant, players take control of Dylan Faden, a character introduced in the original Control. This time, Dylan becomes the central protagonist as he embarks on a mission to stop a cosmic threat capable of distorting reality itself.
The story revolves around the growing instability of supernatural forces and Dylan’s struggle to confront the dangers threatening humanity.
Combat and Environments Highlighted
The newly shown gameplay focuses heavily on combat sequences across several environments. Players can see Dylan engaging enemies in close-quarters combat while navigating areas affected by strange and unstable phenomena.
Remedy appears to be placing greater emphasis on physical combat encounters while still maintaining the surreal atmosphere that defined the original game.
Character Progression and Crafting Systems
Control Resonant will also feature character progression systems. Players will be able to upgrade Dylan’s abilities, unlock new skills, and craft useful items throughout the adventure.
These systems are designed to give players more flexibility in how they approach encounters and challenges during the campaign.
Jesse Faden Will Not Be Playable
Remedy has confirmed that Jesse Faden, the protagonist of the first Control and Dylan’s sister, will not be a playable character in this new installment. While she may still play a role in the story, the narrative focus shifts entirely to Dylan.
This marks a notable change for the series, placing a different member of the Faden family at the center of the Control universe.
Launch Planned for Later This Year
Although a specific release date has not yet been announced, Remedy continues to target a launch later this year for Control Resonant.
With the latest gameplay preview, players now have a clearer idea of how the next chapter of the Control universe will expand on the original game’s action and storytelling.
