Dead Space 2 is suddenly getting a lot more attention again. On social media, fans are calling on Electronic Arts to re-release Isaac Clarke’s second adventure, following the successful remake of the first game. A recent Instagram post calling on EA has already garnered more than 2,300 likes and numerous comments.
Players are also pushing the hashtag #deadspace2remake2026 to keep the idea in the spotlight, though Electronic Arts has yet to respond.
Fans Want Dead Space 2 Back
The call for a Dead Space 2 remake is not new.

After Motive remade the original Dead Space for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023, many players saw a sequel remake as the next logical step. Dead Space 2 launched in 2011 and remains one of the series’ strongest entries.
Set some time after the USG Ishimura incident, the story finds Isaac Clarke battling Necromorphs on the massive Sprawl space station. Compared to the original, Dead Space 2 was bigger, faster, and more action-oriented while retaining the series’ psychological horror.
New Fan Campaign Gains Momentum
Calls for a remake are surging on social media. On Instagram, the gaming account TheGamingLore publicly urged EA to release a Dead Space 2 remake, and the post quickly earned more than 2,300 likes.
The hashtag #deadspace2remake2026 has also appeared on the official EA forum, where one user is urging others to share it on TikTok and other platforms to demonstrate ongoing interest to EA.
This remains a small community effort rather than an official campaign with many participants, but it proves that—more than three years after the remake—Dead Space still resonates with fans.
What happened to the rumored Dead Space 2 remake?
Here’s where things get complicated. In 2024, industry insider Jeff Grubb reported that Motive had been exploring ideas for a Dead Space 2 remake. The project was later put on hold due to the first remake’s sales figures. Electronic Arts disputed that account, stating the story was inaccurate.

As a result, it remains unclear just how far any potential plans actually progressed. The only certainty is that EA never officially announced a Dead Space 2 remake.
Motive is currently working on other projects.
Another obstacle to a quick return is the current situation at Motive.
The studio is still developing the new Iron Man game with Marvel Games, and part of the team has shifted to Battlefield. Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola, two leads on the Dead Space remake, now work on Battlefield as well.

The official Motive website currently lists Battlefield and Iron Man as ongoing projects, while Dead Space appears under previous releases. That doesn’t necessarily mean the franchise is finished, but there’s no official word on a Dead Space 2 remake.
The first remake was very well received by players
From a quality standpoint, Motive has a strong foundation. The Dead Space remake was largely well-received in 2023 and significantly modernized the original without altering its fundamental character. In addition to the completely new technology, areas of the Ishimura were expanded, Isaac was given a voice, and the game largely eliminated traditional loading screens within the actual game world.

That’s precisely why many fans are hoping for a similar treatment for Dead Space 2. While the original is still playable today, a modern reimagining could benefit from the technology and systems that Motive had already established with the first remake.
Sales figures remain the deciding factor
EA has not greenlit a sequel, likely because of financial expectations. In 2024, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the situation, that the Dead Space remake had not met Electronic Arts’ internal sales targets.
EA has not released total sales figures, so the situation is hard to judge. A title can earn strong reviews and still miss a publisher’s financial targets. That financial reality is likely more decisive for a potential Dead Space 2 remake than community enthusiasm.

More than two years later, the topic is clearly still on everyone’s mind. The fact that players are now once again trying to bring this demand to EA’s attention via social media at least shows that there is still an active fan base. Whether anything will actually come of it remains to be seen. EA has not yet announced a Dead Space 2 remake, Dead Space 4, or any other new game in the series.
For now, these calls are above all else another clear sign of life from a community that isn’t ready to send Isaac Clarke into retirement just yet.
