A 200 GB GTA 5 mega-leak has surfaced and includes early hints of GTA 6.

More than three years after the major cyberattack on Rockstar Games, the stolen material is making headlines again. A massive 200 GB archive of internal development data is reportedly circulating online. The cache includes source code, debug versions, and cut content from GTA 5, as well as very early GTA 6 development files.

The underlying data theft is not new: the files originate from the well-known 2022 Rockstar hack. At the end of 2023, a much smaller package containing parts of the GTA 5 source code had already leaked, reportedly totaling about four gigabytes.

PSINFO previously covered the GTA 5 source code leak and its potential implications. The newly surfaced collection is significantly larger and includes many files absent from the earlier release.

Very Early GTA 6 Models Discovered in the Archive

Files apparently from an early phase of GTA 6’s development are drawing particular attention. The collection is said to include development assets and simple 3D models of various regions of the game world. According to those currently examining the material, some of these models may have been created before 2020. Apparently, parts of the later GTA 6 game world were built or tested within the GTA 5 technical environment at that time. The files could therefore offer a rare glimpse into a very early stage of development. However, it is currently impossible to reliably determine which specific areas are depicted or how much of this made it into the final version of GTA 6.

Such early models are usually basic test environments used to gauge distances, road layouts, building sizes, and technical processes. They do not reveal the current scope or final design of the game world.

The version of GTA 6 known today has likely changed significantly since these files were created. Rockstar has since officially revealed the game world in much greater detail. You can find our overview of the content presented so far in the article on the major extended look at GTA 6.

The archive contains significantly more than just GTA 6 files

Most of the new cache still pertains to GTA 5. It includes fully completed debug versions for multiple platforms, internal developer menus, and numerous pieces of content that Rockstar cut during production. According to reports, these include:

  • Debug builds and developer menus for various platform versions
  • cut content from GTA Online
  • numerous discarded vehicles and earlier vehicle models
  • Interiors from the planned Agent Trevor expansion
  • Mission names and audio files from unreleased story content
  • Files related to the scrapped Liberty City expansion

The so-called LibertyV expansion is especially intriguing: the archive includes a large, unused map tied to the canceled Liberty City project. Rumors of a Liberty City return in GTA 5 have circulated for years, and these files may reveal how far Rockstar pursued the idea.

The files also revive interest in the planned Trevor story expansions. The smaller 2023 leak already contained references to several scrapped single-player projects, and PSINFO provided a detailed breakdown of those canceled GTA 5 story expansions at the time.

No New Attack on Rockstar Games

Importantly, this is not a new hack; it appears to be a larger chunk of the data stolen in 2022.

Claims surfaced as early as late 2023 that the full archive totals roughly 200 GB, but only a small fraction was then accessible. The community is still verifying whether the newly shared collection is complete. Individual files are under active review by GTA fans. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not yet officially confirmed the authenticity or completeness of the current archive. The inclusion of known internal GTA 5 files, development tools, and material that matches previous leaks at least suggests that a significant portion could be authentic. Nevertheless, special caution is advised regarding alleged GTA 6 content.

The analysis is likely to take weeks

Because the archive is so large, the investigation is still in its early stages. In the coming days and weeks, additional cut missions, map designs, vehicles, and technical details could surface. However, many misinterpretations are likely, especially concerning the GTA 6 files. A filename or an early 3D model does not prove that an area or feature will appear in the final game.

The leak remains problematic for Rockstar, as the internal data exposes discarded concepts, proprietary tools, and technical assets. We will not share links to the archive or download instructions. Source: Reddit
