Recent rumors suggested that Grand Theft Auto VI might launch digitally first, with the physical edition delayed to prevent early copies from leaking ahead of release. Those claims have now been addressed directly by Take-Two Interactive.
Strauss Zelnick Responds to the Speculation
Speaking with Variety following the company’s latest financial report, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked whether there was any truth to the idea that physical copies of GTA 6 could be pushed back to 2027.
His response was brief and clear: “That’s not the plan.”
This directly contradicts the theory that Rockstar might avoid stocking discs in retail stores before November 19, 2026, to minimize the risk of leaks.
Marketing Timeline Signals Confidence
Zelnick also pointed to Rockstar’s marketing roadmap as evidence that plans are firmly in place. The promotional campaign for GTA 6 is set to begin this summer and run through to launch in November, suggesting a high level of confidence in the release schedule.
For many observers, this is a stronger signal than previous reassurances about the date.
A Small Window for Plans to Change

Good News for Collectors and Retail Buyers
For fans who prefer owning a disc copy, this is welcome news. As things stand, physical and digital versions of GTA 6 are expected to release at the same time on November 19, 2026.
