GTA 6 Finally Reveals Its Official Launch Trailer, and It's All Running on PS5

Rockstar Games surprised fans by releasing the official launch trailer for GTA 6. Just over a month before launch, the studio unveils fresh footage of Vice City and the state of Leonida. The 90-second spot centers on protagonists Jason and Lucia and delivers another look at one of the year’s most anticipated games. PlayStation fans will also note that Rockstar states the entire trailer was captured directly on a PlayStation 5.

Rockstar released the trailer today, October 15, 2026, and reiterated that GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. This kickstarts the final marketing push before players return to Vice City. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz1B4B2yBZY

Rockstar Releases the Official GTA 6 Launch Trailer

Following earlier trailers and the in-depth world showcase, this is the next major video for Grand Theft Auto VI—and it is explicitly the official launch trailer.

The 90-second clip blends cinematic storytelling, the Vice City vibe, and the tale of Jason and Lucia. Once again, a routine heist spirals out of control, drawing the duo into a conspiracy that spans the entire state of Leonida.

To survive, Jason and Lucia must cooperate more closely and trust each other. That relationship drives the story. Rockstar blends the classic GTA mix of crime, grand settings, and open-world gameplay with a narrative centered on two protagonists.

The entire video was captured on a PS5.

For PlayStation players, one detail stands out: Rockstar explicitly confirms that the footage is captured directly from the game running on a PlayStation 5. The studio is not showing a pre-rendered cinematic trailer created separately from the console hardware. However, the exact settings used to capture the footage remain unclear.

The clip offers no full technical breakdown and does not lock in a frame rate for the final build. For instance, it’s still unclear whether GTA 6 will run at 30 or 60 fps on a standard PS5. Even so, the detail is significant.

The new footage now provides additional official material that actually comes from Sony’s standard console.

Vice City and Leonida Take Center Stage Once Again

GTA 6 takes players to the fictional U.S. state of Leonida, where Vice City now appears as a modern reinterpretation of one of the series’ most famous settings. Unlike the original GTA Vice City from 2002, however, the new game world isn’t limited to a single major city.

Rockstar has already unveiled numerous other regions, coastal areas, and rural landscapes. The story revolves around Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, who have troubled pasts and are trying to survive in a world full of crime and dangerous acquaintances.

When a seemingly straightforward heist goes wrong, they must face a greater threat. The new trailer revisits this premise and emphasizes that the relationship between Jason and Lucia will drive the adventure. How their story unfolds and what twists Rockstar has in store remains to be seen.

Well-known musicians provide the soundtrack

Rockstar has also secured high-profile musical talent. The launch trailer features a new track by the French electronic duo Justice. Titled “Flower in a Hurricane,” the song was created with Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Rockstar says Justice will also handle the game’s original score. The track appears on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack due out alongside the game on November 19. The move keeps Rockstar’s long-running tradition of curated in-game radio.

Previous installments were already known for their extensive radio stations, well-known songs, and distinctive musical atmosphere. For many fans, Vice City in particular remains closely associated with its music to this day.

GTA 6 is set to release in November

The official launch trailer puts the release date front and center. Rockstar is still targeting November 19, 2026. GTA 6 will launch first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; a PC version has not been announced for that date.

The game is already available for pre-order, with multiple editions and bonus content on offer. The new trailer signals that Rockstar is ramping up its marketing campaign ahead of the launch, though a trailer is no guarantee against last-minute changes. As of now, there is no new official delay.

The GTA 6 Hype Reaches the Next Level

After years of waiting, the launch trailer’s debut is a special moment for many fans. Developer interviews, technical details, and reports on the elaborate production have dominated headlines in recent days, but Rockstar is now providing official footage again. The fact that the entire trailer was captured on a PlayStation 5 will be of particular interest to console gamers.

With only a few weeks left until launch, fans are wondering whether Rockstar will release additional gameplay footage before November 19. The new trailer confirms that the final countdown to Grand Theft Auto VI has begun. Let us know what you think in the comments.
