Sony is reportedly testing a new PlayStation rewards program that offers real credit.

Sony is testing an unannounced rewards program on the PlayStation Store. Several players have spotted limited-time offers on their PS5s that give account credit when they buy select games. The company has not made an official announcement or explanation.

Reddit screenshots show a notice below select deals in the PlayStation Store promising so-called “Wallet Credit.” One user reports receiving $10 in credit immediately after purchasing *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. It is unclear whether Sony is preparing a successor to PlayStation Stars.

Credit Appears Directly on Selected Games

The new offers appear directly on the product pages of select titles. In addition to *The Blood of Dawnwalker*, the notice has surfaced for *Resonance*, *A Plague Tale: Legacy*, *Star Wars: Zero Company*, and other releases.

This approach differs from a traditional points system. Instead of collecting points and later exchanging them for credit or digital items, players would receive a fixed amount directly in their PlayStation Wallet after a qualifying purchase. According to the Reddit user, the promised credit appeared immediately after checkout. Independent verification is not yet possible, and the offers do not appear for every account, suggesting a limited test or phased rollout. Sony may have enabled the feature only for select users, regions, or titles.

Many key details remain unknown.

It’s unclear what criteria trigger these offers. We don’t know whether a PlayStation Plus subscription is required or if every registered PlayStation account can participate. Minimum prices, regional restrictions, and expiration dates remain unspecified. The credit amount may vary with the game’s price. The $10 credit reported so far may not apply to every offer. It is also unclear whether the credit can be used immediately for additional purchases or if it expires. Users should therefore read the terms and conditions displayed on their PS5 before buying a game solely for the promised reward.

There is no confirmation that the promotion is available in Germany, and the screenshots and reports so far all appear to come from the U.S. PlayStation Store.

A suspicious app had already surfaced in February

The latest reports are not entirely unexpected. As early as February 2026, an unreleased app named “Wallet Credits” appeared in the PlayStation Store. At the time, the app was unannounced, yet some users could add it to their wish lists.

Its purpose remains unclear, but speculation pointed to a new rewards program or another way to buy credits directly through the PlayStation Store. The newly surfaced credit offers may connect to this app, mainly because of the matching name, though that link is unconfirmed. Sony has not publicly unveiled either the app or the new system.

Is Sony preparing a successor to PlayStation Stars?

The find is notable because PlayStation Stars, the loyalty program launched in 2022, will shut down on November 2, 2026. Sony stopped accepting new members in 2025 and paused point earning.

Through PlayStation Stars, users earned points via select purchases and campaigns. Those points could be redeemed for digital credit and other rewards. The program also offered virtual collectibles that did not always excite players. When announcing the shutdown, Sony said it would apply lessons learned to future initiatives. The new Wallet offers could be the result of these considerations. Instead of a separate loyalty program with campaigns, points, and digital collectibles, Sony might reward select purchases directly with credit in the future. However, this is still just an obvious interpretation. The appearance of these offers confirms neither an official successor to PlayStation Stars nor a global launch.

Direct rewards could be more appealing to players

From the customer’s perspective, a simplified model would have several advantages. The value of a reward would be clear before purchase, and users wouldn’t have to manage an extra points system. Credit is also more flexible than a digital collectible.

For Sony, such offers could also function as targeted sales promotions. On new full-price games, a credit bonus could make digital purchases in the PlayStation Store more appealing than a traditional price cut, since the original retail price stays the same and the credit applies to a future buy.

It remains to be seen whether this will evolve into a permanent PlayStation rewards program, or if Sony is simply testing a limited-time promotion or different offer types.

Until an official statement is released, consider these observations an unconfirmed test run. However, visible credit notifications and reported payouts show that Sony is at least experimenting with a new form of purchase rewards. Source: Reddit. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
